Jökulsárlón 2-Day and 3-Day Tours
Two- and three-day Jökulsárlón tours from Reykjavik: what a night on the south coast adds (an ice cave, Skaftafell, the Golden Circle), the hotels, what is extra, and day trip or not.
A two- or three-day Jökulsárlón tour from Reykjavik splits the 380 km drive with a night on the south coast, which buys time at the lagoon in daylight and room for an ice cave in winter. Arctic Adventures’ Iceland 3-Day Tour Golden Circle, Glacier Lagoon, & Ice Cave adds the Golden Circle on the first day and spends the second on Jökulsárlón, the Diamond Beach and the Skaftafell area, from $1,017 a person (checked November 2026), with two nights and breakfast.
The calendar above is the three-day tour, with 115 reviews (checked November 2026).

Both run by minibus with pickup in Reykjavik, and both say the order of the days can change with the weather, the roads and the ice; the cave you visit is chosen on the day after a safety check. Solo travellers on the three-day tour may share a twin room with another traveller of the same gender.

Day trip or not
A day trip is the cheapest way to see the lagoon and the Diamond Beach, at about 14 hours with an hour and a half at the shore. A night on the coast is worth it if you want an ice cave (the ice cave tours that meet at the lagoon take three to four hours; the multi-day tours go to a cave on Falljökull instead), if you want the lagoon without the clock, or if 14 hours on a bus does not appeal. With your own car, the same logic applies: Reykjavik to Jökulsárlón has the distances and the parking fee.
